The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +119.7% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 39%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, power tool imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a slight increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 79%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

Russia prevails in imports structure, resulting at X units, which was near 81% of total imports in 2021. Belarus (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Kazakhstan (X units). All these countries together took near 14% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to power tool imports into Russia stood at +3.6%. At the same time, Belarus (+18.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +18.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-3.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Belarus (+5.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Russia and Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -3.5% and -5.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the import price increased by 29%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+5.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
