In 2021, the CIS power tool market increased by 14% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2012; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

In 2021, exports of power tools in the CIS surged to X units, jumping by 91% against the year before. Over the period under review, exports posted buoyant growth. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, power tool exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

The shipments of the two major exporters of power tools, namely Belarus and Russia, represented more than two-thirds of total export.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Belarus (with a CAGR of +111.3%).
In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest power tool supplier in the CIS, comprising 84% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 14% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia was relatively modest.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2021, waning by -27.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 56%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Belarus amounted to $X per unit.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+2.2%).

Imports in CIS
In 2021, purchases abroad of power tools increased by 23% to X units, rising for the fifth consecutive year after two years of decline. Total imports indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +119.7% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 39%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, power tool imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a slight increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 79%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
Russia prevails in imports structure, resulting at X units, which was near 81% of total imports in 2021. Belarus (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Kazakhstan (X units). All these countries together took near 14% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to power tool imports into Russia stood at +3.6%. At the same time, Belarus (+18.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +18.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-3.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Belarus (+5.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Russia and Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -3.5% and -5.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported power tools in the CIS, comprising 84% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 5.6% share of total imports.
In Russia, power tool imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+2.4% per year) and Belarus (+4.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, surging by 8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the import price increased by 29%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+5.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
