In value terms, electronic metal tester exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 398% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Russia (X units) and Azerbaijan (X units) represented the largest exporters of electronic machines and appliances for testing metals in 2021, amounting to near 43% and 36% of total exports, respectively. Belarus (X units) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Moldova (X units). All these countries together took near 18% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Belarus (with a CAGR of +66.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest electronic metal tester supplying countries in the CIS were Russia ($X), Moldova ($X) and Belarus ($X), with a combined 91% share of total exports.
Belarus, with a CAGR of +61.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 58% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a deep setback. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Moldova ($X per unit), while Azerbaijan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (-0.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of electronic machines and appliances for testing metals was finally on the rise to reach X units after three years of decline. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a mild increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 400%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, electronic metal tester imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed a slight increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Russia dominates imports structure, reaching X units, which was near 78% of total imports in 2021. Uzbekistan (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Kazakhstan (X units). All these countries together took approx. 15% share of total imports. The following importers - Belarus (X units) and Moldova (X units) - together made up 4.6% of total imports.
Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of electronic machines and appliances for testing metals. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+77.2%), Moldova (+18.5%) and Kazakhstan (+2.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +77.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Belarus (-5.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Uzbekistan (+9.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Belarus (-2.5 p.p.) and Russia (-10.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported electronic machines and appliances for testing metals in the CIS, comprising 68% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Moldova, with a 2.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia was relatively modest. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Uzbekistan (+87.0% per year) and Moldova (+27.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 15% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the import price increased by 231%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Kazakhstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Moldova (+7.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
