In 2021, shipments abroad of erasers of vulcanised rubber increased by 7.8% to X tons, rising for the sixth year in a row after three years of decline. Over the period under review, exports saw a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 298% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In value terms, vulcanised rubber erases exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports recorded a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 173%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Russia represented the main exporter of erasers of vulcanised rubber in the CIS, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was approx. 73% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), achieving a 25% share of total exports.

The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Belarus stood at $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (-5.1%).

Imports in CIS

In 2021, the amount of erasers of vulcanised rubber imported in the CIS rose to X tons, growing by 1.7% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports saw a temperate increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 247%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, vulcanised rubber erases imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a pronounced expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 160% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Russia dominates imports structure, finishing at X tons, which was approx. 82% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), achieving a 5.2% share of total imports. The following importers - Kazakhstan (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) - each amounted to an 8.1% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to vulcanised rubber erases imports into Russia stood at +4.2%. At the same time, Belarus (+9.0%) and Uzbekistan (+5.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +9.0% from 2012-2021. Kazakhstan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Uzbekistan (+3.6 p.p.) and Belarus (+1.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Kazakhstan (-2.8 p.p.) and Russia (-5.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported erasers of vulcanised rubber in the CIS, comprising 81% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 6.4% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 5.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia amounted to +2.2%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+4.7% per year) and Belarus (+0.3% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 14% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 23%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+5.4%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
