The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 43%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Russia dominates exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was approx. 92% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), comprising a 6.3% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to filter paper exports from Russia stood at +6.8%. At the same time, Belarus (+21.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +21.8% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Belarus increased by +4.2 percentage points.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest filter paper supplier in the CIS, comprising 88% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with an 11% share of total exports.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Russia prevails in imports structure, recording X tons, which was approx. 91% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), making up a 6.1% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to filter paper imports into Russia stood at +3.6%. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+12.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kazakhstan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +12.0% from 2012-2021. While the share of Kazakhstan (+2.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Russia (-4.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
