In value terms, exports of fish fillets and other fish meat reduced to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 71% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Russia dominates meat structure, recording X tons, which was near 91% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), making up a 7% share of total exports.
Russia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the fish fillets and other fish meat exports, with a CAGR of +10.4% from 2012 to 2022. Kazakhstan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Russia (+11 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Kazakhstan (-10.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest fish fillets and other fish meat supplier in the CIS, comprising 87% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 10% share of total exports.

In 2022, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, flattening at the previous year. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports in CIS
In 2022, imports of fish fillets and other fish meat in the CIS totaled X tons, approximately reflecting the previous year. Overall, imports, however, recorded a mild shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 18%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, imports of fish fillets and other fish meat stood at $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 29%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Russia (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) dominates meat structure, together creating 95% of total imports. The following importers - Kazakhstan (X tons) and Moldova (X tons) - each recorded a 4.1% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Belarus (with a CAGR of +7.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Russia ($X), Belarus ($X) and Moldova ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 96% share of total imports.
Moldova, with a CAGR of +8.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 2.7% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the import price increased by 21% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Moldova ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
