Belarus dominates exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was approx. 91% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Russia (X tons), achieving a 4.9% share of total exports. Kazakhstan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Belarus increased at an average annual rate of +11.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Russia (+12.4%) and Kazakhstan (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Russia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +12.4% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Belarus increased by +4.1 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +51.3% from 2012-2021. Tajikistan (+4.3 p.p.), Armenia (+2.4 p.p.), Belarus (+2.4 p.p.) and Kazakhstan (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -11% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
