Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by 139%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, exports of footwear of rubber or plastics, not waterproof, not sports, without a metal toe-cap rose rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 80%. Exports by Country

Belarus was the key exporting country with an export of about X tons, which reached 80% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Russia (X tons), achieving a 14% share of total exports. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) took a little share of total exports.

Belarus was also the fastest-growing in terms of the footwear of rubber or plastics, not waterproof, not sports, without a metal toe-cap exports, with a CAGR of +50.7% from 2012 to 2021. Total imports indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

At the same time, Azerbaijan (+49.9%), Kazakhstan (+46.6%), Belarus (+38.6%) and Tajikistan (+30.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +49.9% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kyrgyzstan (-11.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Kazakhstan (+20 p.p.), Belarus (+11 p.p.), Tajikistan (+3.2 p.p.) and Azerbaijan (+2.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Kyrgyzstan (-13.2 p.p.) and Russia (-24.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, the largest footwear of rubber or plastics, not waterproof, not sports, without a metal toe-cap importing markets in the CIS were Russia ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and Belarus ($X), together comprising 89% of total imports. Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 8.9%.
