In 2021, Russia (X tons) represented the main exporter of prepared dishes and meals, generating 69% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), committing a 28% share of total exports.

Exports from Russia increased at an average annual rate of +12.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Belarus (+16.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Belarus stood at $X per ton.

For the third consecutive year, the CIS recorded growth in purchases abroad of prepared dishes and meals, which increased by 23% to X tons in 2021. Total imports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +42.4% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 79%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Total imports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +55.0% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 79%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Russia represented the largest importing country with an import of about X tons, which amounted to 56% of total imports. Kazakhstan (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 15% share, followed by Belarus (12%) and Uzbekistan (4.7%). Azerbaijan (X tons), Moldova (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of prepared dishes and meals. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+50.4%), Belarus (+9.1%), Azerbaijan (+9.0%), Kyrgyzstan (+6.9%), Kazakhstan (+6.0%) and Moldova (+5.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +50.4% from 2012-2021. While the share of Belarus (+4.8 p.p.), Uzbekistan (+4.7 p.p.), Kazakhstan (+3.7 p.p.) and Azerbaijan (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Russia (-16.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported prepared dishes and meals in the CIS, comprising 56% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 12% share.

In Russia, prepared dish and meal imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (+8.0% per year) and Belarus (+5.3% per year).
