Gear Box Market Size in CIS

The CIS gear box market contracted to $X in 2022, with a decrease of -11.7% against the previous year. The total consumption indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, consumption increased by +18.5% against 2020 indices. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

In 2022, shipments abroad of gear boxes decreased by -3.9% to X units, falling for the second consecutive year after five years of growth. Overall, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 95%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, gear box exports contracted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 107% against the previous year. Russia represented the key exporting country with an export of around X units, which recorded 71% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X units), achieving a 25% share of total exports. Kazakhstan (X units) took a minor share of total exports.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of gear boxes. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+51.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kazakhstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +51.0% from 2012-2022. Belarus experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. In 2022, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the export price increased by 29%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per unit), while Russia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+1.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2022, approx. X units of gear boxes were imported in the CIS; growing by 4.3% on the previous year. Total imports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +27.9% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 33% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, gear box imports dropped to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +29.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 46%. In 2022, Russia (X units) represented the main importer of gear boxes, committing 72% of total imports. Uzbekistan (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Kazakhstan (X units). All these countries together took approx. 21% share of total imports. Belarus (X units) held a minor share of total imports.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of gear boxes. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+74.3%) and Kazakhstan (+17.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported gear boxes in the CIS, comprising 75% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 5.6% share.

In Russia, gear box imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+116.2% per year) and Kazakhstan (+20.0% per year).

In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, falling by -4.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a slight reduction.
