In value terms, glass fibres and wool exports shrank to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 46%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then declined in the following year.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Russia (X tons) represented the major exporter of glass fibres and glass wool, comprising 64% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), comprising a 35% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Belarus (with a CAGR of +10.6%).
In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest glass fibres and wool supplier in the CIS, comprising 72% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 25% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia totaled +7.1%.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, falling by -7.3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the export price increased by 42%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Belarus totaled $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+0.5%).
Imports of Glass Fibres And Glass Wool
Imports in CIS
Glass fibres and wool imports skyrocketed to X tons in 2022, increasing by 49% on the previous year. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt slump. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, glass fibres and wool imports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 19%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Russia was the largest importer of glass fibres and glass wool in the CIS, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was near 49% of total imports in 2022. Kazakhstan (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 25% share, followed by Azerbaijan (7.3%) and Kyrgyzstan (5.1%). Belarus (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons) and Moldova (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to glass fibres and wool imports into Russia stood at -8.4%. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+14.3%), Uzbekistan (+11.7%) and Kazakhstan (+8.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +14.3% from 2012-2022. Belarus experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Moldova (-1.1%) and Azerbaijan (-12.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan increased by +18, +4.3 and +4 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported glass fibres and glass wool in the CIS, comprising 59% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 4.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia stood at +1.1%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (+4.1% per year) and Belarus (-4.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -20.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 29%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2021, and then declined sharply in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Moldova ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Moldova (+14.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
