Kazakhstan represented the major importing country with an import of about X tons, which recorded X% of total imports. Belarus (X tons) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Russia (X%) and Azerbaijan (X%). Armenia (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons) and Moldova (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to globe imports into Kazakhstan stood at +X%. At the same time, Azerbaijan (+X%), Armenia (+X%), Belarus (+X%), Uzbekistan (+X%) and Moldova (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +X% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Russia (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Moldova and Armenia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X, with a CAGR of +X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, dropping by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the import price increased by X%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
