Russia was the key exporting country with an export of about X units, which finished at 83% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X units), making up a 10% share of total exports. Kazakhstan (X units) and Uzbekistan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to grinding, sanding and polishing machine exports from Russia stood at +25.1%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+68.2%), Belarus (+28.7%) and Kazakhstan (+13.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +68.2% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Russia, Belarus and Uzbekistan increased by +4.4, +2.8 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively.

In Russia, grinding, sanding and polishing machine exports expanded at an average annual rate of +27.0% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belarus (+9.8% per year) and Kazakhstan (+23.7% per year).

In 2021, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 1.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the export price increased by 39% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2017 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Kazakhstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+9.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

For the sixth consecutive year, the CIS recorded growth in purchases abroad of grinding, sanding and polishing machines, which increased by 14% to X units in 2021. In general, imports recorded a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 38%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, grinding, sanding and polishing machine imports reduced notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 44%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Russia dominates imports structure, accounting for X units, which was approx. 83% of total imports in 2021. Kazakhstan (X units) took a 5.2% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Belarus (5.1%). The following importers - Kyrgyzstan (X units) and Moldova (X units) - together made up 4.5% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to grinding, sanding and polishing machine imports into Russia stood at +10.6%. At the same time, Belarus (+21.9%), Kyrgyzstan (+14.8%) and Kazakhstan (+7.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +21.9% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Moldova (-7.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Russia (+7.6 p.p.) and Belarus (+3.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Moldova saw its share reduced by -7% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 5.1% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 4.6% share.

In Russia, grinding, sanding and polishing machine imports decreased by an average annual rate of -2.4% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+6.0% per year) and Belarus (-9.0% per year).

In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, declining by -36.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the import price increased by 67%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Moldova (+13.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
