Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, plaster exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed tangible growth. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Moldova represented the key exporter of plaster in the CIS, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was approx. 44% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Russia (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons), Kazakhstan (X tons) and Belarus (X tons), together constituting a 54% share of total exports. Azerbaijan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Azerbaijan (with a CAGR of +58.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Moldova ($X) emerged as the largest plaster supplier in the CIS, comprising 56% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Russia ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with an 8.7% share.
In Moldova, plaster exports expanded at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Russia (+2.7% per year) and Kazakhstan (-3.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 19% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a abrupt slump. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Moldova ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+2.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS
In 2022, supplies from abroad of plaster decreased by -3.7% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, imports showed a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 21%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, plaster imports totaled $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Russia was the largest importer of plaster in the CIS, with the volume of imports reaching X tons, which was approx. 39% of total imports in 2022. Armenia (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), Kazakhstan (X tons), Kyrgyzstan (X tons), Tajikistan (X tons) and Moldova (X tons). All these countries together took near 60% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Armenia (with a CAGR of +25.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported plaster in the CIS, comprising 44% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia stood at -11.6%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (-1.3% per year) and Belarus (-7.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, rising by 4.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 7.8% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Armenia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
