The CIS non-alloy steel h-sections market reduced modestly to $X in 2022, approximately mirroring the previous year. In general, consumption recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. In 2022, the amount of h-sections of of non-alloy steel exported in the CIS reduced markedly to X tons, dropping by -17.4% compared with 2021 figures. Total exports indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +26.1% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 53% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-alloy steel h-sections exports dropped sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a mild increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 152% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then declined remarkably in the following year.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Russia (X tons) was the main exporter of h-sections of of non-alloy steel in the CIS, committing 98% of total export.
Russia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the h-sections of of non-alloy steel exports, with a CAGR of +1.0% from 2012 to 2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Russia decreased by -1.8 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) also remains the largest non-alloy steel h-sections supplier in the CIS.

Export Prices by Country
The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, declining by -15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 65% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then declined in the following year.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Russia.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Russia amounted to -0.4% per year.

Imports in CIS
In 2022, the amount of h-sections of of non-alloy steel imported in the CIS skyrocketed to X tons, growing by 21% against the year before. Total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +66.4% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 24% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, non-alloy steel h-sections imports soared to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +82.5% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 51% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the three major importers of h-sections of of non-alloy steel, namely Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Uzbekistan (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with an 8.6% share, followed by Azerbaijan (5.7%).
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +50.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest non-alloy steel h-sections importing markets in the CIS were Belarus ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and Russia ($X), together comprising 82% of total imports. Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 16%.
Among the main importing countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +44.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, leveling off at the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 43%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, leveling off in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+1.3%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
