The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 26% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced decrease. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of hand tools increased by 6.6% to X tons, rising for the sixth consecutive year after two years of decline. Total imports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +111.2% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 48%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Total imports indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +101.9% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 36%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Russia represented the largest importer of hand tools in the CIS, with the volume of imports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 67% of total imports in 2021. Kazakhstan (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Belarus (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 25% share of total imports. The following importers - Uzbekistan (X tons), Azerbaijan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) - each resulted at a 5.5% share of total imports.

Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Belarus (+14.6%), Kazakhstan (+10.4%), Azerbaijan (+7.8%) and Uzbekistan (+7.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +14.6% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kyrgyzstan (-14.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Kazakhstan (+7 p.p.), Belarus (+5.6 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+2.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Kyrgyzstan and Russia saw its share reduced by -7.7% and -7.8% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported hand tools in the CIS, comprising 75% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with an 8.5% share.

In Russia, hand tools imports increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+4.6% per year) and Belarus (+6.7% per year).

Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern.
