The CIS plastic headgear market shrank to $X in 2022, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. The total consumption indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last decade. In value terms, plastic headgear production stood at $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, showed a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 27,448%. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2014 to 2022, production growth failed to regain momentum.

Exports in CIS
In 2022, after six years of growth, there was decline in overseas shipments of headgear of rubber or plastic, when their volume decreased by -2% to X units. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 234% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2021, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
In value terms, plastic headgear exports stood at $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 267% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
The shipments of the two major exporters of headgear of rubber or plastic, namely Belarus and Russia, represented more than two-thirds of total export.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Belarus (with a CAGR of +84.0%).
In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest plastic headgear supplier in the CIS, comprising 75% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 25% share of total exports.
In Russia, plastic headgear exports increased at an average annual rate of +17.5% over the period from 2012-2022.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 2.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Belarus stood at $X per unit.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (-0.7%).

Imports in CIS
In 2022, the amount of headgear of rubber or plastic imported in the CIS rose slightly to X units, surging by 3.2% on 2021. Total imports indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +18.6% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 42%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, plastic headgear imports dropped slightly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -7.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 29%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Russia (X units) represented the largest importer of headgear of rubber or plastic, constituting 66% of total imports. Kazakhstan (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an 18% share, followed by Belarus (9.5%). The following importers - Armenia (X units) and Azerbaijan (X units) - each amounted to a 3.4% share of total imports.
Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of headgear of rubber or plastic. At the same time, Azerbaijan (+25.5%), Armenia (+16.0%), Belarus (+8.8%) and Kazakhstan (+2.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +25.5% from 2012-2022. While the share of Belarus (+4.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Russia (-10.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported headgear of rubber or plastic in the CIS, comprising 64% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 23% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 7.8% share.
In Russia, plastic headgear imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+8.1% per year) and Belarus (+6.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -5.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the import price increased by 14%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Azerbaijan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+5.3%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
