Plastic Headgear Market Size in CIS

The CIS plastic headgear market shrank to $X in 2022, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. The total consumption indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last decade. In 2022, after six years of growth, there was decline in overseas shipments of headgear of rubber or plastic, when their volume decreased by -2% to X units. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 234% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2021, and then dropped modestly in the following year.

In value terms, plastic headgear exports stood at $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 267% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

The shipments of the two major exporters of headgear of rubber or plastic, namely Belarus and Russia, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

Total imports indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +18.6% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 42%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Total imports indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -7.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 29%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Russia (X units) represented the largest importer of headgear of rubber or plastic, constituting 66% of total imports. Kazakhstan (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an 18% share, followed by Belarus (9.5%). The following importers - Armenia (X units) and Azerbaijan (X units) - each amounted to a 3.4% share of total imports.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of headgear of rubber or plastic. At the same time, Azerbaijan (+25.5%), Armenia (+16.0%), Belarus (+8.8%) and Kazakhstan (+2.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +25.5% from 2012-2022. While the share of Belarus (+4.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Russia (-10.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported headgear of rubber or plastic in the CIS, comprising 64% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 23% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 7.8% share.

In Russia, plastic headgear imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+8.1% per year) and Belarus (+6.2% per year).

In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -5.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the import price increased by 14%.
