Heat Exchange Unit Market Size in CIS

The CIS heat exchange unit market expanded markedly to $X in 2022, increasing by 5.5% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, approx. X units of heat exchange units were exported in the CIS; increasing by 25% compared with 2021 figures. In general, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 100%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, heat exchange unit exports amounted to $X in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 293%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Russia (X units) represented the main exporter of heat exchange units, generating 79% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X units), achieving a 17% share of total exports. Tajikistan (X units) held a relatively small share of total exports.

Exports from Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -1.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Tajikistan (+16.8%) and Belarus (+16.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +16.8% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Belarus and Tajikistan increased by +13 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest heat exchange unit supplier in the CIS, comprising 93% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 5.8% share of total exports.

In Russia, heat exchange unit exports expanded at an average annual rate of +14.4% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belarus (+26.8% per year) and Tajikistan (+16.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2022, waning by -10.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 226% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit, and then reduced in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Tajikistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+16.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of heat exchange units was finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a noticeable descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year. Imports by Country

In 2022, Russia (X units) represented the major importer of heat exchange units, creating 66% of total imports. Kazakhstan (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 14% share, followed by Belarus (8%), Azerbaijan (5.6%) and Uzbekistan (4.6%).

Imports into Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -5.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+29.6%), Azerbaijan (+12.3%) and Kazakhstan (+1.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +29.6% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belarus (-9.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Kazakhstan (+6.3 p.p.), Uzbekistan (+4.6 p.p.) and Azerbaijan (+4.4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Belarus and Russia saw its share reduced by -6.4% and -8.2% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported heat exchange units in the CIS, comprising 61% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 9.7% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia stood at -7.9%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (-2.3% per year) and Belarus (-10.0% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2022, dropping by -4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 9.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
