In 2022, the CIS market for chocolate bars with cereals, fruit or nuts increased by 3.8% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year declining trend. In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a slight descent. Over the period under review, the market attained the maximum level at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, production of chocolate bars with cereals, fruit or nuts shrank slightly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, showed a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the production volume increased by 8.7%. Over the period under review, production of reached the peak level at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, after six years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of chocolate bars with cereals, fruit or nuts, when their volume decreased by -20.3% to X tons. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded pronounced growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
In value terms, exports of chocolate bars with cereals, fruit or nuts shrank sharply to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then dropped notably in the following year.

Russia dominates nuts structure, amounting to X tons, which was approx. 85% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons), together constituting a 13% share of total exports.
Russia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the chocolate bars with cereals, fruit or nuts exports, with a CAGR of +5.7% from 2012 to 2022. Kazakhstan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Belarus (-1.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Russia (+8.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Kazakhstan and Belarus saw its share reduced by -3.1% and -6.7% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest cereal, fruit or nut chocolate bar supplier in the CIS, comprising 83% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 7.5% share of total exports.
In Russia, exports of chocolate bars with cereals, fruit or nuts expanded at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kazakhstan (+0.9% per year) and Belarus (-6.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, approximately equating the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 11% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+1.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS
In 2022, approx. X tons of chocolate bars with cereals, fruit or nuts were imported in the CIS; surging by 5.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports posted a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 24%. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, imports of chocolate bars with cereals, fruit or nuts expanded modestly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +130.1% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Russia represented the major importer of chocolate bars with cereals, fruit or nuts in the CIS, with the volume of imports finishing at X tons, which was near 51% of total imports in 2022. Uzbekistan (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 12% share, followed by Belarus (9.8%), Kazakhstan (9.7%), Azerbaijan (6.8%) and Kyrgyzstan (6.2%). Armenia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to cereal, fruit or nut chocolate bar imports into Russia stood at +7.2%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+32.9%), Azerbaijan (+20.3%), Kyrgyzstan (+8.2%) and Armenia (+8.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +32.9% from 2012-2022. Belarus experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-3.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Uzbekistan, Russia and Azerbaijan increased by +12, +5.7 and +4.9 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported chocolate bars with cereals, fruit or nuts in the CIS, comprising 54% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 9.7% share.
In Russia, imports of chocolate bars with cereals, fruit or nuts expanded at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belarus (+0.6% per year) and Uzbekistan (+32.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, falling by -3% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a mild downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the import price increased by 9.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Armenia ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
