In value terms, Belarus ($X) emerged as the largest horizontal machining centre supplier in the CIS, comprising 84% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Russia ($X), with a 14% share of total exports.
In Belarus, horizontal machining centre exports expanded at an average annual rate of +17.0% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Russia (-11.7% per year) and Kazakhstan (-3.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 21% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the export price increased by 43%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Russia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+1.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, the amount of horizontal machining centres for working metal imported in the CIS skyrocketed to X units, increasing by 22% compared with 2020. In general, imports, however, saw a pronounced curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 60%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Russia represented the key importing country with an import of around X units, which accounted for 83% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X units), comprising an 11% share of total imports. Kazakhstan (X units) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to horizontal machining centre imports into Russia stood at -4.5%. At the same time, Belarus (+5.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +5.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-4.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Belarus (+6.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Russia (-6.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported horizontal machining centres for working metal in the CIS, comprising 89% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with an 8.2% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia totaled -3.8%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (-2.3% per year) and Kazakhstan (-5.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, waning by -3.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the import price increased by 50%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Kazakhstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
