After two years of growth, shipments abroad of household refrigerators and freezers (not combined) decreased by -15.4% to X units in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 19% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units, and then fell markedly in the following year.
In value terms, non-combined refrigerator-freezer exports contracted to $X in 2022. Overall, exports saw a mild contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 25% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Russia represented the key exporting country with an export of about X units, which resulted at 59% of total exports. Belarus (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X units) and Kazakhstan (X units). All these countries together held near 40% share of total exports.
Exports from Russia increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+55.4%) and Uzbekistan (+55.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kazakhstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +55.4% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belarus (-10.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Russia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan increased by +20, +11 and +7.8 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest non-combined refrigerator-freezer supplier in the CIS, comprising 58% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 25% share of total exports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with an 8.5% share.
In Russia, non-combined refrigerator-freezer exports increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (-9.9% per year) and Kazakhstan (+51.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, rising by 3.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a mild reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 4.7%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per unit), while Uzbekistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+4.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS
In 2022, supplies from abroad of household refrigerators and freezers (not combined) decreased by -6% to X units for the first time since 2015, thus ending a six-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 28%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, non-combined refrigerator-freezer imports dropped to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a perceptible expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 27%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Russia (X units) was the key importer of household refrigerators and freezers (not combined), constituting 73% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X units), achieving a 14% share of total imports. Uzbekistan (X units), Kyrgyzstan (X units), Belarus (X units) and Azerbaijan (X units) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to non-combined refrigerator-freezer imports into Russia stood at +7.2%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+23.4%), Kazakhstan (+6.7%), Kyrgyzstan (+3.9%) and Azerbaijan (+2.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +23.4% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belarus (-5.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Russia (+7.5 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+4.4 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Belarus (-4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported household refrigerators and freezers (not combined) in the CIS, comprising 65% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 21% share of total imports. It was followed by Azerbaijan, with a 4% share.
In Russia, non-combined refrigerator-freezer imports expanded at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (+8.5% per year) and Azerbaijan (+4.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -3.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a pronounced descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the import price increased by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
