The exports totaled X tons in 2018, shrinking by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, brown rice exports continue to indicate an abrupt setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, brown rice exports reached their maximum at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2018, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, brown rice exports amounted to $X in 2018. Over the period under review, brown rice exports continue to indicate a deep decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012 with an increase of X% y-o-y. The level of exports peaked at $X in 2010; however, from 2011 to 2018, exports failed to regain their momentum.

Exports by Country

Russia was the major exporting country with an export of around X tons, which amounted to X% of total exports. Tajikistan (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Kyrgyzstan (X%) and Kazakhstan (X%).

Russia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the husked (brown) rice exports, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007 to 2018. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Tajikistan (-X%) and Kazakhstan (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The brown rice export price in CIS stood at $X per ton in 2018, increasing by X% against the previous year. Over the last eleven years, it increased at an average annual rate of +X%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of X% y-o-y. In that year, the export prices for husked (brown) rice attained their peak level and is likely to continue its growth in the immediate term.

Azerbaijan was the largest importer of husked (brown) rice in CIS, with the volume of imports reaching X tons, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2018. Armenia (X tons) occupied the second position in the ranking, followed by Russia (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons). All these countries together occupied near X% share of total imports. The following importers - Kazakhstan (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) - each resulted at a X% share of total imports.

Imports into Azerbaijan increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2007 to 2018. At the same time, Belarus (+X%) and Russia (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing importer in CIS, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2018. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-X%), Kyrgyzstan (-X%) and Armenia (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2007 to 2018, the share of Azerbaijan and Russia increased by +X% and +X% percentage points, while Kazakhstan (-X p.p.), Kyrgyzstan (-X p.p.) and Armenia (-X p.p.) saw their share reduced. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
