Overall, imports, however, recorded a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 98% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, sugar-manufacturing industrial machinery imports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 77% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Russia represented the major importer of industrial machinery for the manufacture or preparation of sugar in the CIS, with the volume of imports recording X units, which was near 56% of total imports in 2022. Moldova (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Uzbekistan (X units), Belarus (X units) and Armenia (X units). All these countries together held near 40% share of total imports. Kazakhstan (X units) held a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to sugar-manufacturing industrial machinery imports into Russia stood at -10.4%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+71.5%), Armenia (+34.2%), Kazakhstan (+26.6%), Moldova (+10.0%) and Belarus (+3.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported industrial machinery for the manufacture or preparation of sugar in the CIS, comprising 74% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Moldova, with a 6.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia amounted to -3.1%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (+0.8% per year) and Moldova (+12.4% per year).

In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, surging by 15% against the previous year. Import price indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, sugar-manufacturing industrial machinery import price decreased by -20.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 88%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2022, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
