After two years of decline, the CIS industrial robot market increased by 6.2% to $X in 2021. Overall, consumption, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the market failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, industrial robot production expanded to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total production indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production decreased by -13.3% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 67%. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2021, production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, the amount of industrial robots for multiple uses exported in the CIS surged to X units, with an increase of 42% on the previous year. In general, exports continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 229%. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

Russia was the largest exporter of industrial robots for multiple uses in the CIS, with the volume of exports recording X units, which was near 70% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X units), making up a 27% share of total exports. Moldova (X units) took a little share of total exports.

Russia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the industrial robots for multiple uses exports, with a CAGR of +40.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Moldova (+16.7%) and Belarus (+14.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest industrial robot supplier in the CIS, comprising 67% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 31% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia amounted to +28.7%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (+20.3% per year) and Moldova (+20.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2021, reducing by -2.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 114%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per unit), while Moldova ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, approx. X units of industrial robots for multiple uses were imported in the CIS; remaining stable against the previous year. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 66% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, industrial robot imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 81%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Russia (X units) was the largest importer of industrial robots for multiple uses, constituting 64% of total imports. Uzbekistan (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an 11% share, followed by Kazakhstan (9.5%) and Belarus (8.2%). The following importers - Azerbaijan (X units), Moldova (X units) and Tajikistan (X units) - each reached a 5.5% share of total imports.

Imports into Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -11.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+61.1%), Moldova (+48.9%), Tajikistan (+30.5%), Belarus (+20.0%) and Kazakhstan (+18.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +61.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Azerbaijan (-4.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Moldova and Tajikistan increased by +11, +8.4, +7.4, +1.8 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported industrial robots for multiple uses in the CIS, comprising 81% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 7.3% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 6.1% share.

In Russia, industrial robot imports shrank by an average annual rate of -1.6% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+17.2% per year) and Uzbekistan (+49.4% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2021, jumping by 17% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the import price increased by 60% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
