In 2022, after six years of growth, there was significant decline in the CIS injection-moulding machine market, when its value decreased by -7.9% to $X. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 135% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units, and then reduced markedly in the following year.

In value terms, injection-moulding machine exports rose sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 195%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Russia represented the largest exporter of injection-moulding machines for working rubber or plastics in the CIS, with the volume of exports finishing at X units, which was approx. 51% of total exports in 2022. Belarus (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 20% share, followed by Uzbekistan (14%) and Armenia (5.1%). The following exporters - Azerbaijan (X units), Moldova (X units) and Kazakhstan (X units) - together made up 9.9% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to injection-moulding machine exports from Russia stood at +16.2%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+79.2%), Azerbaijan (+28.2%), Belarus (+19.8%), Armenia (+9.9%) and Moldova (+6.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +79.2% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-5.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Uzbekistan (+14 p.p.), Armenia (+5.1 p.p.), Belarus (+4.9 p.p.) and Azerbaijan (+2.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Russia, Moldova and Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -1.6%, -5.2% and -16.4% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, Russia ($X), Belarus ($X) and Kazakhstan ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together comprising 83% of total exports. Uzbekistan, Moldova, Azerbaijan and Armenia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 16%.

Among the main exporting countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +127.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, jumping by 69% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a abrupt contraction. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Armenia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+27.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of injection-moulding machines for working rubber or plastics imported in the CIS reduced to X units, falling by -14.9% on the previous year. Total imports indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +5.3% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 53% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, injection-moulding machine imports fell to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 94%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Russia represented the main importing country with an import of around X units, which amounted to 67% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X units), comprising a 22% share of total imports. Belarus (X units), Kazakhstan (X units) and Azerbaijan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of injection-moulding machines for working rubber or plastics. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+3.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +3.2% from 2012-2022.
