Total exports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +60.0% against 2013 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 17% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, wire and cable exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Russia (X tons) was the main exporter of insulated wire and cable, committing 50% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons) and Moldova (X tons), together mixing up a 45% share of total exports. Uzbekistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Belarus (with a CAGR of +9.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Russia ($X), Moldova ($X) and Belarus ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together comprising 96% of total exports.
Among the main exporting countries, Moldova, with a CAGR of +12.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 14% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Moldova ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+10.4%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS
In 2021, imports of insulated wire and cable in the CIS fell to X tons, dropping by -4.5% on the previous year. In general, imports showed a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 22%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, wire and cable imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Russia (X tons) was the main importer of insulated wire and cable, committing 48% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), Belarus (X tons) and Moldova (X tons), together creating a 41% share of total imports. Azerbaijan (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to wire and cable imports into Russia stood at -3.6%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+5.8%) and Moldova (+2.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +5.8% from 2012-2021. Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Azerbaijan (-3.2%) and Belarus (-5.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Kazakhstan (+3 p.p.), Uzbekistan (+2.7 p.p.) and Moldova (+2.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Belarus (-3.2 p.p.) and Russia (-6.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported insulated wire and cable in the CIS, comprising 60% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Moldova, with an 8.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia was relatively modest. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (-1.1% per year) and Moldova (+4.5% per year).

In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, rising by 24% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
