In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in the CIS metal gas appliances market, when its value decreased by -10.2% to $X. Over the period under review, consumption continues to indicate a pronounced reduction. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, metal gas appliances exports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a significant expansion. Belarus dominates exports structure, accounting for X units, which was near 94% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Russia (X units), committing a 5.6% share of total exports.

Belarus was also the fastest-growing in terms of the iron or steel gas domestic appliances exports, with a CAGR of +190.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Russia (+39.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Belarus (+93 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Russia (-92 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Belarus ($X) remains the largest metal gas appliances supplier in the CIS, comprising 85% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Russia ($X), with a 13% share of total exports.

In Belarus, metal gas appliances exports expanded at an average annual rate of +98.9% over the period from 2012-2022.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2022, which is down by -44.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a dramatic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 21% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Belarus amounted to $X per unit.

After six years of growth, purchases abroad of iron or steel gas domestic appliances decreased by -19.9% to X units in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 84%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, metal gas appliances imports reduced to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted pronounced growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 66%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then fell in the following year.

Imports by Country

The purchases of the three major importers of iron or steel gas domestic appliances, namely Belarus, Azerbaijan and Russia, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Moldova (X units) and Uzbekistan (X units) took a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Azerbaijan (with a CAGR of +84.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest metal gas appliances importing markets in the CIS were Azerbaijan ($X), Russia ($X) and Belarus ($X), together comprising 87% of total imports.

Azerbaijan, with a CAGR of +75.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 8% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a abrupt descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 19%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
