In 2021, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -21.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 52% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+0.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS
Metal stud-link chain imports soared to X tons in 2021, rising by 42% against the year before. In general, imports, however, recorded a perceptible descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 109% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, metal stud-link chain imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a slight contraction. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Russia was the largest importing country with an import of about X tons, which amounted to 48% of total imports. Kazakhstan (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 28% share, followed by Azerbaijan (12%) and Kyrgyzstan (4.9%). The following importers - Belarus (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons) - each amounted to a 3.7% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Azerbaijan (with a CAGR of +55.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported iron/steel stud-link chain in the CIS, comprising 59% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 24% share of total imports. It was followed by Azerbaijan, with a 7.5% share.
In Russia, metal stud-link chain imports shrank by an average annual rate of -4.9% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+8.7% per year) and Azerbaijan (+47.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, growing by 32% against the previous year. Import price indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, metal stud-link chain import price increased by +10.3% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the import price increased by 55%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while Tajikistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
