The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 66% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Russia represented the largest importing country with an import of about X tons, which finished at 72% of total imports. Belarus (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 12% share, followed by Kazakhstan (8.6%). Azerbaijan (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.
Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Azerbaijan (+7.3%) and Belarus (+6.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +7.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-3.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Russia (+4.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -9.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported knives and cutting blades (for machines or for mechanical appliances) in the CIS, comprising 80% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 4.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia amounted to +6.3%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belarus (+2.3% per year) and Kazakhstan (-1.5% per year).
