In 2022, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of lead-acid accumulators (excluding starter batteries), when their volume decreased by -26.6% to X units. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 180% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2021, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, lead-acid accumulators (excluding starter batteries) exports shrank notably to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 147%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then fell dramatically in the following year.
Exports by Country
Russia prevails in exports structure, recording X units, which was approx. 84% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X units) and Kazakhstan (X units), together mixing up a 13% share of total exports. Armenia (X units) took a relatively small share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to lead-acid accumulators (excluding starter batteries) exports from Russia stood at +12.1%. At the same time, Armenia (+87.2%), Belarus (+13.7%) and Kazakhstan (+8.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Armenia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +87.2% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Armenia increased by +3.4 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with an 8.3% share of total exports. It was followed by Armenia, with a 4.8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia amounted to +8.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+9.6% per year) and Armenia (+61.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2022, increasing by 10% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 63%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+0.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2022, approx. X units of lead-acid accumulators (excluding starter batteries) were imported in the CIS; declining by -2.2% on 2021 figures. Total imports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -6.0% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Total imports indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -17.4% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 30% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Russia dominates imports structure, resulting at X units, which was near 86% of total imports in 2022. The following importers - Kazakhstan (X units), Belarus (X units), Uzbekistan (X units) and Azerbaijan (X units) - together made up 13% of total imports.
Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Azerbaijan (+27.4%), Uzbekistan (+24.8%), Kazakhstan (+1.5%) and Belarus (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +27.4% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan increased by +3 and +2.2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported lead-acid accumulators (excluding starter batteries) in the CIS, comprising 79% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 7.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia was relatively modest. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (+1.1% per year) and Uzbekistan (+25.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, flattening at the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Russia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
