In value terms, lentil exports fell slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 353%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted modestly in the following year.
Exports by Country
Kazakhstan (X tons) and Russia (X tons) prevails in exports structure, together comprising 98% of total exports. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Kazakhstan (with a CAGR of +45.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Russia ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 99.9% share of total exports.
Kyrgyzstan, with a CAGR of +74.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, growing by 4.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 42%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kyrgyzstan (+20.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, imports of lentils in the CIS skyrocketed to X tons, increasing by 17% compared with the year before. In general, imports continue to indicate a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 84%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, lentil imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports enjoyed a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 133% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Kyrgyzstan (X tons), Azerbaijan (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons) represented roughly 78% of total imports in 2022. Armenia (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with an 8.1% share, followed by Tajikistan (5.7%). Russia (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.

In value terms, Azerbaijan ($X), Kyrgyzstan ($X) and Kazakhstan ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 78% share of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, Kyrgyzstan, with a CAGR of +56.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 2.5% against the previous year. Import price indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, lentil import price increased by +116.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 55%. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($X per ton), while Tajikistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
