Loading Machinery Market Size in CIS

The CIS loading machinery market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2022, after two years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the market remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Loading Machinery Production in CIS

In value terms, loading machinery production contracted modestly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, continues to indicate a slight contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2015 to 2022, production growth failed to regain momentum.

Exports in CIS

After two years of growth, overseas shipments of lifting, handling, loading or unloading machinery decreased by -39.2% to X units in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 89%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units, and then declined significantly in the following year.

In value terms, loading machinery exports contracted significantly to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +34.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 50% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Russia (X units) was the main exporter of lifting, handling, loading or unloading machinery, comprising 73% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X units), achieving a 25% share of total exports.

Russia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the lifting, handling, loading or unloading machinery exports, with a CAGR of +13.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Belarus (+10.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Russia (+25 p.p.) and Belarus (+3.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest loading machinery supplier in the CIS, comprising 76% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 21% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia amounted to +6.1%.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, surging by 35% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable decrease. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Belarus amounted to $X per unit.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (-6.2%).

Imports in CIS

In 2022, imports of lifting, handling, loading or unloading machinery in the CIS shrank to X units, with a decrease of -12.3% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports recorded a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 26%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, loading machinery imports dropped to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 13%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Russia was the key importing country with an import of about X units, which amounted to 59% of total imports. Kazakhstan (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Belarus (X units). All these countries together took near 31% share of total imports. The following importers - Uzbekistan (X units), Moldova (X units) and Azerbaijan (X units) - together made up 8.2% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to loading machinery imports into Russia stood at -7.1%. At the same time, Moldova (+13.7%), Kazakhstan (+7.5%) and Uzbekistan (+5.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Moldova emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +13.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belarus (-4.9%) and Azerbaijan (-11.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Kazakhstan (+16 p.p.), Uzbekistan (+3.9 p.p.) and Moldova (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Azerbaijan (-2.1 p.p.) and Russia (-20.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported lifting, handling, loading or unloading machinery in the CIS, comprising 80% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 3.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia amounted to -3.9%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (+2.0% per year) and Uzbekistan (+6.1% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2022, rising by 6.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the import price increased by 37% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+3.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
