The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 42% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, lift and hoist exports rose modestly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 47%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Belarus dominates exports structure, accounting for X units, which was approx. 90% of total exports in 2022. The following exporters - Kazakhstan (X units), Russia (X units) and Azerbaijan (X units) - together made up 9% of total exports.

Exports from Belarus increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Azerbaijan (+45.6%) and Kazakhstan (+37.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +45.6% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Russia (-3.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Kazakhstan (+4.1 p.p.) and Azerbaijan (+1.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Russia and Belarus saw its share reduced by -2.8% and -4.2% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, Belarus ($X) remains the largest lift and hoist supplier in the CIS, comprising 93% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Russia ($X), with a 5.2% share of total exports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 1% share.

In Belarus, lift and hoist exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Russia (-1.8% per year) and Kazakhstan (+10.7% per year).

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2022, dropping by -7.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 8.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Azerbaijan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, imports of lifts and hoists in the CIS totaled X units, increasing by 2.6% on the year before. Total imports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -3.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 85%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Russia was the largest importer of lifts and hoists in the CIS, with the volume of imports accounting for X units, which was approx. 58% of total imports in 2022. Kazakhstan (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 19% share, followed by Uzbekistan (9.2%) and Azerbaijan (5.8%). Armenia (X units), Belarus (X units) and Kyrgyzstan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+42.8%), Armenia (+21.7%), Kyrgyzstan (+12.7%), Azerbaijan (+12.5%) and Kazakhstan (+9.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +42.8% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belarus (-1.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Uzbekistan (+9.2 p.p.), Kazakhstan (+7.1 p.p.), Azerbaijan (+3 p.p.) and Armenia (+2.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Belarus (-1.8 p.p.) and Russia (-20.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported lifts and hoists in the CIS, comprising 58% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with an 11% share.

In Russia, lift and hoist imports shrank by an average annual rate of -2.4% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (+12.5% per year) and Uzbekistan (+38.5% per year).
