The CIS paper making machinery market surged to $X in 2021, jumping by 27% against the previous year. The total consumption indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last nine years. In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest paper making machinery supplier in the CIS, comprising 83% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Moldova, with a 3.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia totaled +34.9%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (+21.6% per year) and Moldova (-6.2% per year).

In 2021, the amount of machinery for making up paper pulp, paper or paperboard imported in the CIS surged to X units, rising by 40% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 89% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, paper making machinery imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports enjoyed a moderate expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 98%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Russia prevails in imports structure, resulting at X units, which was approx. 85% of total imports in 2021. Kazakhstan (X units), Azerbaijan (X units), Uzbekistan (X units) and Belarus (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

At the same time, Uzbekistan (+12.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Azerbaijan (-8.5%), Belarus (-10.7%) and Kazakhstan (-12.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 4.3% share of total imports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 2.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia totaled +5.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+16.1% per year) and Kazakhstan (-8.6% per year).
