From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Russia (X units) and Belarus (X units) represented roughly 99% of total exports in 2021.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Belarus (with a CAGR of +136.7%).

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest electroplating machine supplier in the CIS, comprising 80% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 19% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia was relatively modest.

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2021, which is down by -16.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 460%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, purchases abroad of machines for electroplating, electrolysis or electrophoresis increased by 231% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. In general, imports recorded a prominent expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, electroplating machine imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a noticeable contraction. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Russia was the largest importer of machines for electroplating, electrolysis or electrophoresis in the CIS, with the volume of imports accounting for X units, which was approx. 62% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X units) and Belarus (X units), together achieving a 34% share of total imports. The following importers - Armenia (X units) and Kazakhstan (X units) - each resulted at a 3.8% share of total imports.

Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+121.7%), Armenia (+74.0%) and Belarus (+60.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +121.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-16.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Uzbekistan, Belarus and Armenia increased by +29, +4.6 and +2.1 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported machines for electroplating, electrolysis or electrophoresis in the CIS, comprising 82% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 1.7% share.

In Russia, electroplating machine imports contracted by an average annual rate of -2.8% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+66.7% per year) and Kazakhstan (-7.8% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 3.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 55% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+11.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
