In 2021, the amount of machines for working wire exported in the CIS soared to X units, increasing by 31% against the previous year. Total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +82.6% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 49%. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, working wire machine exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports posted a moderate increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 102%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Russia (X units) represented the key exporter of machines for working wire, achieving 58% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X units), achieving a 33% share of total exports. The following exporters - Moldova (X units) and Uzbekistan (X units) - each recorded a 4.8% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Belarus (with a CAGR of +28.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest working wire machine supplying countries in the CIS were Russia ($X), Belarus ($X) and Moldova ($X), together comprising 97% of total exports.
Among the main exporting countries, Belarus, with a CAGR of +49.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2021, jumping by 35% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a slight contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the export price increased by 55%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Moldova ($X per unit), while Uzbekistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+17.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS
In 2021, overseas purchases of machines for working wire decreased by -9.6% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports, however, showed a modest expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 90%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, working wire machine imports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed mild growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 76% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
Russia was the largest importing country with an import of about X units, which amounted to 35% of total imports. Uzbekistan (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 17% share, followed by Kazakhstan (11%), Moldova (8.9%), Tajikistan (7.7%), Belarus (7.4%), Kyrgyzstan (6.8%) and Azerbaijan (4.7%).
Imports into Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -5.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Moldova (+34.5%), Kyrgyzstan (+30.5%), Tajikistan (+12.8%), Azerbaijan (+11.7%), Uzbekistan (+11.6%) and Belarus (+1.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Moldova emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +34.5% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-2.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Uzbekistan, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan increased by +17, +8.2, +6.1, +4.7 and +2.7 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported machines for working wire in the CIS, comprising 66% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with an 8.5% share.
In Russia, working wire machine imports plunged by an average annual rate of -1.3% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+7.0% per year) and Uzbekistan (+11.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2021, jumping by 19% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the import price increased by 109%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
