From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia totaled -28.2%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Azerbaijan (+74.4% per year) and Belarus (-20.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 28% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a abrupt decrease. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports into Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -9.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Moldova (+73.3%), Uzbekistan (+33.7%), Kyrgyzstan (+22.0%) and Kazakhstan (+9.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Moldova emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +73.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Belarus (-15.7%) and Azerbaijan (-19.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Kazakhstan (+11 p.p.), Moldova (+3.2 p.p.), Kyrgyzstan (+3 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Belarus (-3.5 p.p.), Azerbaijan (-4.3 p.p.) and Russia (-12.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported microscopes and diffraction apparatus in the CIS, comprising 96% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 2.7% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 0.9% share.
In Russia, microscope imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+8.1% per year) and Uzbekistan (+36.6% per year).
