In value terms, internal combustion engines exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 145%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The biggest shipments were from Belarus (X units) and Russia (X units), together accounting for 99% of total export.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Belarus (with a CAGR of -5.6%).
In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest internal combustion engines supplier in the CIS, comprising 77% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 22% share of total exports.
In Russia, internal combustion engines exports contracted by an average annual rate of -9.2% over the period from 2012-2021.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, rising by 5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 17% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Belarus stood at $X per unit.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (-1.4%).

Imports in CIS
For the fourth consecutive year, the CIS recorded growth in purchases abroad of motor vehicles compression-ignition internal combustion piston engines, which increased by 32% to X units in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 64%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, internal combustion engines imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 100% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Russia (X units) represented the key importer of motor vehicles compression-ignition internal combustion piston engines, mixing up 69% of total imports. Belarus (X units) held a 22% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Kazakhstan (4.9%). Azerbaijan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -1.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Azerbaijan (+57.7%) and Kazakhstan (+12.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +57.7% from 2012-2021. Belarus experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Kazakhstan (+3.2 p.p.) and Azerbaijan (+1.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -8.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported motor vehicles compression-ignition internal combustion piston engines in the CIS, comprising 80% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 4% share.
In Russia, internal combustion engines imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belarus (-9.9% per year) and Kazakhstan (+6.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 9.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a slight reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 53% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Azerbaijan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+1.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
