Russia was the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which reached X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), constituting a X% share of total exports. Uzbekistan (X tons) took a relatively small share of total exports.
From 2007 to 2020, average annual rates of growth with regard to phosphate rock exports from Russia stood at +X%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+X%) and Kazakhstan (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. In Russia, phosphate rock exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2007-2020. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kazakhstan (+X% per year) and Uzbekistan (+X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The phosphate rock export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2020, falling by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 when the export price increased by X% y-o-y. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, export prices failed to regain the momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2020, supplies from abroad of phosphate rock increased by X% to X tons, rising for the sixth year in a row after three years of decline. Over the period under review, imports posted a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2020 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, phosphate rock imports fell to $X in 2020. Overall, imports enjoyed resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the two major importers of phosphate rock, namely Belarus and Russia, represented more than two-thirds of total import.
