Exports by Country
In 2022, Russia (X tons) represented the main exporter of natural stone setts, kerbstones and flagstones, creating 79% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons), generating a 10% share of total exports. Kyrgyzstan (X tons), Kazakhstan (X tons), Belarus (X tons) and Armenia (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.
Exports from Russia increased at an average annual rate of +53.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+66.5%), Kyrgyzstan (+32.7%), Belarus (+10.4%) and Armenia (+6.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kazakhstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +66.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Uzbekistan (-3.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Russia (+45 p.p.), Uzbekistan (+10 p.p.) and Kazakhstan (+2.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Kyrgyzstan (-3 p.p.), Belarus (-26.7 p.p.) and Armenia (-28.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest natural stone sett supplier in the CIS, comprising 77% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 7.5% share of total exports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 4.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia amounted to +45.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+26.6% per year) and Kazakhstan (+59.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 7.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 57%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+31.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of natural stone setts, kerbstones and flagstones increased by 29% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a four-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 67%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, natural stone sett imports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a mild downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 95% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Russia represented the largest importing country with an import of around X tons, which recorded 83% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), achieving a 13% share of total imports. Kazakhstan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Belarus (+21.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +21.6% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-8.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Russia (+12 p.p.) and Belarus (+11 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -3.3% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported natural stone setts, kerbstones and flagstones in the CIS, comprising 86% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with an 8.8% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia was relatively modest. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (+14.7% per year) and Kazakhstan (-15.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -8.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 17%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (-1.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
