In 2022, shipments abroad of network communications equipment increased by 86% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 183% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, network communications equipment exports soared to $X in 2022. In general, exports enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 168%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Belarus (X units) was the main exporter of network communications equipment, making up 61% of total exports. Russia (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 23% share, followed by Kazakhstan (13%). Uzbekistan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Belarus increased at an average annual rate of +44.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+1,444.5%), Kazakhstan (+63.3%) and Russia (+2.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +1,444.5% from 2012-2022. While the share of Belarus (+53 p.p.), Kazakhstan (+12 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Russia (-68.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) emerged as the largest network communications equipment supplier in the CIS, comprising 61% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Russia ($X), with a 23% share of total exports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 9.9% share.
In Kazakhstan, network communications equipment exports expanded at an average annual rate of +77.5% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Russia (+5.3% per year) and Belarus (+26.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, rising by 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a measured expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 119%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+8.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Network communications equipment imports skyrocketed to X units in 2022, picking up by 83% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports posted buoyant growth. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, network communications equipment imports dropped significantly to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 174%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.
Imports by Country
Russia represented the main importer of network communications equipment in the CIS, with the volume of imports finishing at X units, which was near 82% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X units), making up a 12% share of total imports. Kazakhstan (X units) and Armenia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to network communications equipment imports into Russia stood at +11.7%. At the same time, Belarus (+23.5%) and Armenia (+22.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +23.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-7.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Belarus (+8.1 p.p.) and Russia (+7.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -15.8% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported network communications equipment in the CIS, comprising 74% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with an 8.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia totaled +3.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+13.1% per year) and Belarus (+19.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, falling by -57.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 57%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2021, and then fell notably in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+22.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
