Nitrites Market Size in CIS

The CIS nitrites market amounted to $X in 2021, surging by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded a deep setback. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Nitrites Production in CIS

In value terms, nitrites production amounted to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. In value terms, nitrites exports fell modestly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 76% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The shipments of the one major exporters of nitrites, namely Russia, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

Russia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the nitrites exports, with a CAGR of +6.3% from 2012 to 2021. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) also remains the largest nitrites supplier in the CIS.

In 2021, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 11%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Russia.

Imports in CIS

In 2021, approx. X tons of nitrites were imported in the CIS; with an increase of 37% against 2020. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 143%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, nitrites imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a mild descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 131% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

The countries with the highest levels of nitrites imports in 2021 were Kazakhstan (X tons), Belarus (X tons) and Russia (X tons), together recording 83% of total import. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons), committing a 12% share of total imports. The following importers - Tajikistan (X tons) and Azerbaijan (X tons) - each amounted to a 3.9% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Tajikistan (with a CAGR of +59.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Russia ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and Belarus ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 82% share of total imports. Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Tajikistan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 16%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Tajikistan, with a CAGR of +51.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 33% against the previous year. Import price indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, nitrites import price increased by +110.4% against 2014 indices. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Tajikistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+14.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
