In 2022, the amount of office or school supplies of plastics exported in the CIS contracted to X tons, falling by -6% on the previous year. Total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +6.9% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, office supply exports dropped modestly to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +59.4% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 54%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then reduced slightly in the following year.

In 2022, Russia (X tons) represented the main exporter of office or school supplies of plastics, achieving 71% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), committing a 24% share of total exports. Armenia (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Russia increased at an average annual rate of +11.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Armenia (+191.6%), Kazakhstan (+31.4%) and Belarus (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Armenia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +191.6% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Russia and Armenia increased by +18 and +3.6 percentage points, respectively. The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, approximately equating the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 22% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Armenia (+4.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

After two years of decline, overseas purchases of office or school supplies of plastics increased by 17% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 40%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, office supply imports rose to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Russia (X tons) was the largest importer of office or school supplies of plastics, making up 42% of total imports. Kazakhstan (X tons) held a 19% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Belarus (9.9%), Uzbekistan (8.4%), Kyrgyzstan (6.9%) and Azerbaijan (6.8%). Armenia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -5.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Armenia (+12.5%), Uzbekistan (+9.1%), Azerbaijan (+8.0%) and Belarus (+2.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Armenia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +12.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-4.5%) and Kyrgyzstan (-7.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Uzbekistan (+8.4 p.p.), Azerbaijan (+4.4 p.p.), Belarus (+4 p.p.) and Armenia (+2.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Kazakhstan (-3.9 p.p.), Kyrgyzstan (-4.1 p.p.) and Russia (-12.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then contracted in the following year.
