Overall, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 22% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, exports of thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamates; thiuram mono-, di- or tetrasulphides; methionine stood at $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Belarus totaled $X per ton.

Imports in CIS

Imports of thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamates; thiuram mono-, di- or tetrasulphides; methionine expanded sharply to X tons in 2022, surging by 7.7% compared with 2021 figures. In general, imports posted resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 170%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, imports of thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamates; thiuram mono-, di- or tetrasulphides; methionine amounted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 163% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Russia prevails in methionine structure, resulting at X tons, which was approx. 74% of total imports in 2022. Belarus (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 10% share, followed by Kazakhstan (6.6%) and Uzbekistan (5.3%). Azerbaijan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +12.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+15.3%), Uzbekistan (+12.1%), Azerbaijan (+10.1%) and Belarus (+2.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kazakhstan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +15.3% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Russia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan increased by +6.2, +5.3 and +1.9 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamates; thiuram mono-, di- or tetrasulphides; methionine in the CIS, comprising 69% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 7.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia totaled +7.9%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belarus (-2.9% per year) and Kazakhstan (+10.5% per year).

In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -6.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 31% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
