The average peach and nectarine yield reached X tons per ha in 2021, approximately reflecting 2020 figures. Overall, the yield continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the yield increased by 7.1%. As a result, the yield attained the peak level of X tons per ha. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the peach and nectarine yield remained at a somewhat lower figure. Despite the increased use of modern agricultural techniques and methods, future yield figures may still be impacted by adverse weather conditions.

Peach and nectarine exports contracted markedly to X tons in 2021, reducing by -32.2% compared with the previous year. In general, exports, however, recorded buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 105%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, peach and nectarine exports fell modestly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 101%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2020, and then shrank slightly in the following year.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Uzbekistan (X tons), distantly followed by Azerbaijan (X tons), Armenia (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) were the largest exporters of peaches and nectarines, together achieving 89% of total exports. Moldova (X tons), Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Russia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Armenia (with a CAGR of +34.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest peach and nectarine supplying countries in the CIS were Uzbekistan ($X), Azerbaijan ($X) and Armenia ($X), together comprising 92% of total exports.

Armenia, with a CAGR of +31.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate mild growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the export price increased by 54% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+22.3%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS

In 2021, approx. X tons of peaches and nectarines were imported in the CIS; declining by -20.8% against 2020. Over the period under review, imports saw a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 32%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, peach and nectarine imports shrank to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a slight setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 33% against the previous year. Russia prevails in imports structure, amounting to X tons, which was near 83% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), achieving a 6.4% share of total imports. The following importers - Kazakhstan (X tons), Armenia (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) - together made up 9.9% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to peach and nectarine imports into Russia stood at -1.6%. At the same time, Armenia (+146.3%) and Kyrgyzstan (+77.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Armenia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +146.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Belarus (-2.6%) and Kazakhstan (-10.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Armenia, Russia and Kyrgyzstan increased by +3.6, +2.9 and +2.1 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported peaches and nectarines in the CIS, comprising 88% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 6.6% share of total imports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 2.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia stood at -1.2%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belarus (-0.7% per year) and Kazakhstan (-13.9% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, growing by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
