In 2022, the CIS pistachio market decreased by -11.6% to $X, falling for the third consecutive year after four years of growth. Over the period under review, consumption saw a abrupt setback. From 2015 to 2022, production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The country with the largest volume of pistachio production was Armenia (X tons), accounting for 51% of total volume. Moreover, pistachio production in Armenia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Tajikistan (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Kyrgyzstan (X tons), with a 20% share.

In Armenia, pistachio production remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Tajikistan (+1.7% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (+1.5% per year).

The biggest shipments were from Kyrgyzstan (X tons), Tajikistan (X tons) and Armenia (X tons), together amounting to 82% of total export. Belarus (X tons) took a 10% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Kazakhstan (5.6%).

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Armenia (with a CAGR of +79.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export price indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, pistachio export price increased by +4.9% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the export price increased by 53%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 33% against the previous year.
