In 2022, after six years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of plastic baths, shower-baths, sinks and wash-basins, when their volume decreased by -14.9% to X units. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 82% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, plastic bath or sink exports shrank to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 55%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

Exports by Country

Russia was the key exporter of plastic baths, shower-baths, sinks and wash-basins in the CIS, with the volume of exports resulting at X units, which was approx. 80% of total exports in 2022. Belarus (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with an 11% share, followed by Uzbekistan (6.8%). Armenia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Russia increased at an average annual rate of +20.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Armenia (+102.9%), Uzbekistan (+26.9%) and Belarus (+26.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Armenia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +102.9% from 2012-2022. Uzbekistan (+6.8 p.p.), Belarus (+3.4 p.p.) and Armenia (+1.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -11.7% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest plastic bath or sink supplier in the CIS, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 5.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia totaled +14.4%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (+25.3% per year) and Uzbekistan (+50.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, surging by 6.3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a perceptible shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 17%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per unit), while Uzbekistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+18.4%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS

In 2022, overseas purchases of plastic baths, shower-baths, sinks and wash-basins increased by 1.4% to X units for the first time since 2017, thus ending a four-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, plastic bath or sink imports dropped to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 18%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Russia dominates imports structure, recording X units, which was near 80% of total imports in 2022. Kazakhstan (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Belarus (X units). All these countries together held near 13% share of total imports. The following importers - Uzbekistan (X units) and Moldova (X units) - each resulted at a 4.1% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to plastic bath or sink imports into Russia stood at -6.9%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+16.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +16.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belarus (-1.8%), Moldova (-3.7%) and Kazakhstan (-7.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Uzbekistan (+2.2 p.p.) and Belarus (+2.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -5.2% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported plastic baths, shower-baths, sinks and wash-basins in the CIS, comprising 71% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 7.7% share.

In Russia, plastic bath or sink imports shrank by an average annual rate of -7.5% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (-2.0% per year) and Belarus (-1.3% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2022, waning by -6.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 23%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit, and then dropped in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Moldova ($X per unit), while Russia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
