In value terms, spectacle plastic frame exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 143% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Russia was the main exporting country with an export of about X units, which reached 68% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X units), mixing up a 28% share of total exports. Uzbekistan (X units) held a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to spectacle plastic frame exports from Russia stood at +12.0%. At the same time, Belarus (+22.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+656.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In 2021, spectacle plastic frame imports in the CIS skyrocketed to X units, jumping by 110% on the previous year's figure. Overall, imports showed a strong expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Azerbaijan (+66.6%), Kazakhstan (+7.9%) and Belarus (+2.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +66.6% from 2012-2021. Russia (+4.5 p.p.) and Azerbaijan (+1.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Belarus saw its share reduced by -3.6% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported plastic frames and mountings for spectacles and goggles in the CIS, comprising 77% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia totaled -2.4%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (+4.0% per year) and Kazakhstan (+1.8% per year).
