The CIS market for plastics pipes and pipe fittings fell modestly to $X in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, saw a slight contraction. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2021, and then shrank slightly in the following year.

Russia prevails in exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near 74% of total exports in 2022. Belarus (X tons) took a 7.8% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Kazakhstan (7.4%). Uzbekistan (X tons), Azerbaijan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Russia increased at an average annual rate of +11.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+53.5%), Azerbaijan (+33.8%), Kazakhstan (+9.6%) and Belarus (+4.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +53.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Uzbekistan (-1.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Uzbekistan (+3.8 p.p.), Russia (+2.8 p.p.), Azerbaijan (+2.8 p.p.) and Kyrgyzstan (+2.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Belarus (-7.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest plastics pipe and pipe fitting supplier in the CIS, comprising 72% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 7.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia stood at +6.3%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (+5.5% per year) and Kazakhstan (+10.5% per year).

In 2022, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, almost unchanged from the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a noticeable descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the export price increased by 20%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+1.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in purchases abroad of plastics pipes and pipe fittings, when their volume decreased by -4.5% to X tons. Overall, imports recorded a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 15% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, plastics pipe and pipe fitting imports dropped modestly to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 26% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
