After two years of growth, the CIS plastic reservoir market decreased by -14.4% to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, consumption continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the market failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, plastic reservoir production contracted to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total production indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production decreased by -3.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 81% against the previous year. The level of production peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, plastic reservoir exports in the CIS surged to X tons, rising by 26% on 2021 figures. Overall, exports posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 232% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, plastic reservoir exports declined to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports posted a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 326% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Russia was the major exporter of plastic reservoirs, tanks and vats in the CIS, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was near 58% of total exports in 2022. Uzbekistan (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Belarus (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 37% share of total exports. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to plastic reservoir exports from Russia stood at +23.9%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+105.5%), Kyrgyzstan (+55.2%) and Kazakhstan (+54.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +105.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belarus (-1.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Uzbekistan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan increased by +25, +15, +4.4 and +2.7 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest plastic reservoir supplier in the CIS, comprising 72% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 9.4% share.

In Russia, plastic reservoir exports expanded at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Uzbekistan (+90.4% per year) and Belarus (+0.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -23.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a abrupt decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 28% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+1.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS

For the fourth year in a row, the CIS recorded growth in supplies from abroad of plastic reservoirs, tanks and vats, which increased by 0.3% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports posted a modest expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 106% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, plastic reservoir imports expanded sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 119% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Kazakhstan (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) represented the largest importer of plastic reservoirs, tanks and vats in the CIS, committing 67% of total import. Moldova (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 10% share, followed by Kyrgyzstan (8.8%) and Uzbekistan (5.9%). Azerbaijan (X tons) took a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +84.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest plastic reservoir importing markets in the CIS were Kazakhstan ($X), Russia ($X) and Belarus ($X), with a combined 80% share of total imports. Moldova, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 18%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +70.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 9.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a pronounced reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the import price increased by 21%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
