The CIS pneumatic elevator market expanded rapidly to $X in 2022, growing by 11% against the previous year. In general, consumption recorded resilient growth. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, shipments abroad of pneumatic elevators and conveyors was finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Total exports indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -22.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 71% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, pneumatic elevator exports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a mild curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 93%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Russia represented the largest exporter of pneumatic elevators and conveyors in the CIS, with the volume of exports finishing at X units, which was near 58% of total exports in 2022. Belarus (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 19% share, followed by Moldova (17%). The following exporters - Kazakhstan (X units) and Azerbaijan (X units) - each resulted at a 6.2% share of total exports.

Exports from Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -2.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Moldova (+38.8%), Azerbaijan (+16.2%), Belarus (+15.7%) and Kazakhstan (+3.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Moldova emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +38.8% from 2012-2022. While the share of Moldova (+16 p.p.), Belarus (+14 p.p.) and Azerbaijan (+2.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Russia (-27.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest pneumatic elevator supplying countries in the CIS were Russia ($X), Moldova ($X) and Kazakhstan ($X), with a combined 90% share of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, Moldova, with a CAGR of +50.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2022, jumping by 37% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 71%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Moldova (+8.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in CIS

In 2022, imports of pneumatic elevators and conveyors in the CIS soared to X units, picking up by 98% against the year before. In general, imports posted a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 152%. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, pneumatic elevator imports dropped rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 120%. Russia prevails in imports structure, recording X units, which was approx. 87% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X units), comprising a 7.3% share of total imports. Azerbaijan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+11.4%) and Azerbaijan (+7.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kazakhstan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +11.4% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Kazakhstan and Russia increased by +3.1 and +1.6 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported pneumatic elevators and conveyors in the CIS, comprising 82% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 7.2% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia stood at -7.8%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (+1.5% per year) and Azerbaijan (+5.2% per year).

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($X per unit), while Russia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
